Grindstone is a Maine town in the greater Millinocket region. I have photographed the East Branch of the Penobscot several times there over the years. Grindstone has never let me down.
I drove there on Friday, hoping the water would be down so I could walk on the river bed. No such luck. The river is very high…oh, but the banks of the river! Treasure! Rocks, ice, trees, wood chips left by beavers. Such a peaceful day.
Maybe I’ll return in winter.
